Pozosur reduces environmental impact
The Spanish leader has been immersed for two years in a multi-pronged programme to address its environmental impact. The firm’s production programme has been better adjusted to the specific times of demand in order to avoid surplus. In addition, the use of field technology such as GPS and laser for irrigation enables the optimisation of water supply and the standardisation of field conditions. Irrigation breakdown control has also been improved, with alarm systems to detect any faults or pressure surges. Pozosur has established itself not only as the leading Spanish watermelon producer (with a volume of 65,000 tons). It also has over 800 ha of iceberg, pak choi, mini-romaine and little gem lettuce and produces more than 3,000 tons of butternut squash.
