The Origine Group continues to develop Fred^®, the new pear variety designed to reinvigorate the market and expand the target audience. “The Fred^® project continues. We firmly believe in this pear’s capacity to offer the organoleptic qualities we are pursuing. We expect to see the first major volumes next year and think it will have a big impact on rejuvenating the pear as a product. Moreover, a study by the University of Bologna has shown that it is not prone to browning, even less so than the William, and that it offers high bacterial resistance and productivity, making it an extremely interesting variety for producers,” said director Alessandro Zampagna.
